Sheffield City Council use cloud to expand their digital capabilities
Sheffield City Council has joined forces with leading cloud and digital service provider, ANS to build a cloud foundation on which to enhance its digital strategy as part of their Technology 2020 Vision.
Following a cloud plan and design assessment carried out by ANS, the council was able to identify which areas of its IT infrastructure could be migrated to the Microsoft Azure public cloud to increase efficiency, accessibility and improve user-experience for both staff and citizens.
In 2018, the council set out their Technology 2020 vision which aims to improve the way they deliver services to citizens and businesses across Sheffield, using the latest digital technology. By migrating to the cloud, the council is able to build a foundation on which to expand their digital capabilities, empowering citizens to engage digitally with the council and streamlining internal processes to enable employees to work more efficiently.
Looking to the future, the council aims to maximise their public cloud investment by building bespoke, targeted IoT and data analytics projects to help them make intelligent decisions to benefit citizens and local businesses.
Mike Weston, Assistant Director of IT at Sheffield City Council commented, “We are constantly looking to improve the ways in which we deliver services to citizens and business in the city by using the latest technology, digital tools and techniques. ANS are helping us to achieve our Technology 2020 Strategy which will be fundamental to enabling us to become a digitally-enabled council.”
Andy Barrow, CTO at ANS, added: “Public cloud opens up many doors for local councils and it’s brilliant to see just how ambitious Sheffield City Council are as they lay the foundations for digital citizen engagement. We look forward to helping Sheffield to maximise their cloud investment and supporting them as they continue to advance their digital strategy.”
